[quote="Ceri"]Dang! Just when I was ready to sign off and go and do some other stuff with my evening, this comes along.

On your previous question......NO...not motivating enough. Would like to play it though.

Doc

Unlikely they are going to 'dilute' this one. If you read the copy carefully, you will note that their purpose was to 'mirror the look, sound, and feel of the original instrument,' and some may even want it to look aged.

(Buddy Guy's MIM is the 'polka-dot' but it lacks the powerplant of the MIA.)

Don't bemoan your age and the time in which you live. You have available, well made and playing Stratocasters at a range of fabulous price points. When I was 14 there was only one '56 Stratocaster and it likely would have cost around $2K in todays US currency.

It's hard to tell, from out front, what you paid for your Fender.

Doc

Am I the only one who isn't excited about this signature model? I like Gilmour but meh towards his guitar. I'm sure it'll sell well but there are so many other guitars that would make great (read: better) signature models :(

Hey you guys... cool wierd story. (compressed version)
My GF's dad has been a life long Pink Floyd & David Gilmour fan...
(He recently retired)
He literally raised her in the sounds of Pink Floyd.
It is so engrained into her psychy that some songs often bring her to tears.
To say the least... They love Pink Floyd & David Gilmour. It's actually a father daughter thing.
Her first concert he took her to see Pink Floyd... It totally changed her life.
(I met her in a music store... she bought a guitar from me)
Anyway... The odd cool thing is that it just so happens that
the David Gilmour signiture strat release date is on his BirthDay!!
What are the odds of that?

^^That's amazingly coincidental...or is it Fated? ;)

Honestly though, I think the Red Strat would've made for a "better" Sig model than the black. The Red has a much hotter, cutting sound than the black. I prefer listening to the older versions of Comfortably Numb London '94; David uses Red) than the newer ones (Albert Hall w/ Bowie; David uses black). The black has a much mellower sound (Seymours vs EMGs), which works in some cases, but not all. When I think David Gilmour / Pink Floyd, I think of Comfortably Numb and David's amazing solo on his Red Strat.

Just my .02; I got your back Highbinder ;)

You are not alone!

I'd be more interested if the "Gilmour" was modeled after how it looked in the Pompeii video .... I don't like the black pickguard ... and I do like the big headstock.

Agreed on that (I am not big on all-black, either). But my biggest issue is that shortened whammy bar...

that is where I can agree. I love EMg pickups, so I combined my love of both guitars. I have a black strat w/black pickguard, EMG SA's in white, with a push pull knob which turns the bridge slection into bridge/neck and slide the selector over one and it is the bridge/middle/neck combo. Now, I just want the shortend arm, because its good for better stability and better control over the strings when you use it. Here is a pic of my guitar.

Is there any way to assure getting a "first 500"?

I've been waiting a long time for this one...

Ah, yes: that's the next question a lot of people will want answering. Apparently there is an orderly line forming at the gates of the Corona factory even as we speak.

I wonder how much of that first "golden 500" Fender could sell out just to members of this Forum?

Cheers - C

In this case, one in a million, and how lovely for all concerned. Now you can buy a guitar for her!!
