And there's a bigger picture available at http://blog.davidgilmour.com/

Looks very promising - now we just need to know the price ...

Price should not matter to you as you just saved a ton of money on your latest guitar! :P

Yes, but you will notice that I own Squier's - the VG will be my first "real" Fender. Being on a fixed income tends to set limits on acquisitions. I can't expect to win a Blackstrat too ! So I'll be most likely adding to my guitar fund for this one - and I have my eye on a Telecaster too. A we aren't even talking about a good amp yet!

GAS never sleeps.

it looks good and you know what under the hood, it's gonna sound killer !!!

These will sell like hotcakes. DO want. Are they limited edition or will it become a permanent part of the catalogue? (i.e. will they run out before I can save for one???!)

No, Dave isn't dead. If he was, you'd have tears coming out of your monitor every time you logged on to the forum.

Dave's been dead for decades, didn't you know? If you play Echoes backwards at double speed and turn off the left channel, then at a certain point a ghostly voice can just be heard to say "Dave is dead" in the background. Also, in the Live at Pompey film, he's the only one with bare feet. Also...

Or am I mixing this up with something else?

Anyway. Don't worry, Frankie in Australia: this one will be around for a long time to come... And on the pricing thing: that website ain't quite as clear as it could be, because the writer doesn't know Fender terminology. But he seems to indicate two guitars, a Tribute (what he's calling a Relic; BIG bucks) and a Sig - much more affordable. So get saving, but don't bother to put the house on the market, just yet...

Cheers - C

...We don't have a confirmed Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price yet, but it won't be $24,000 (the price of the recent Eric Clapton limited 'Blackie' model), nor is it intended to be a limited edition. However its manufacture does take some time, so it may be hard to find at first – hopefully only for a short while...

• Maple neck – as close as possible to the original ('83 57V with Gotoh tuners), in shape, colour and feel, with a nitro-cellulose finish.
• Alder body with the same late 60's contours as the original.
• All the pickups were selected by David to match the sound of the 'Black Strat' closely, and are custom-wound: neck and middle pickups by Fender's legendary Abigail Ybarra, and the bridge pickup by Seymour Duncan.
• The same extra mini-switch has been added, which adds the neck pickup to the middle or bridge pickup if desired.
• The tremolo arm has been shortened, as per David's modification.

A 'Relic' prototype There are two models:
• The 'Relic', which replicates the 'Black Strat' as it is today with aged parts and worn paint, plus all the wear and tear of David's heavily-used 30-year-old guitar – with no backplate.
• The 'New Old Stock' model, which replicates the 'Black Strat' as it is now – but with all-new parts, 'new' paint finish and an additional white plastic backplate. The NOS model should be found at a lower retail price than the 'Relic'.

I read that the guitar won't be a limited thing. But there is a relic version that is what David's guitar looks like now, scratches and no back plate. The other is what it would like brand new. I just want the shortened arm. I have the DG EMG's in my black strat with a custom made single ply black pickguard. I also got the push/pull pot on one tone knob to enable the bridge/neck pickup combo, then move the blade up one and all three pickups are in play.

Nice looking out come that!!

I've just put an inquiry into the person at GC with whom I do all of my business. Told him that I would consider swapping in my PRS Hiland for the Gilmour. Hope to get some numbers. I like that PRS but........we're talking 'special' here, arent we.

On a related note....look for a tribute band called "Project Gilmore" Saw them last night in a local venue. A very accomplished group of musicians with a great take on the music.

Doc
