Your right it is a bit honey coloured rather than mahogany red.
I'm considering the black plastic stuff too.

playability is good. Better than the vintage hotrod, and resonance that tickles the ribs. All this guitar needs is scn's, im resolute that vintage noisless pickups are brash and ugly

Dude I would totally LOVE to shred on that beauty for a bit. Mind you with the volume control out of the way and a humbucker in the bridge position, but WOW! I could just imagine the tone that it produces with a mohagany body and a maple neck/fretboard...I'm jealous to be honest. You're MEAN for even bringing it up  . Seriously though; AWESOME AXE!!! 8)

the way that the mahogany resonates you hardly need buckers. its very balanced across the frequencies. I am considering putting a old dimazio in the neck though, just to get away from the brash abrasive garbage i'm hearing. I wouldn't use the thing for elevator musak the way that neck possition sounds at the mo'

If there's anything like the Seymour Duncan 59'er humbucker in a single or mini-humbucker version, then I'd suggest that you put that into the neck position for a FULL, THICK tone. I prefer humbuckers for shreddin' metal, but unless you're playing with that type of aggression, then you really don't need them. But if there's a mini-humbucker version of the Seymour Duncan Distortion, then I'd put that into the bridge position. That's just the metalhead in me though :D .

Very nice. Hope it all finishes well for you when the pickups and all is finished.. "Strahogany" is only a typo away from "Strat agony", fingers crossed it doesn't give you any!

Beautiful finish. The whole "natural-finish" scene is quite interesting for a Strat. Man, wouldn't mind taking that axe for a spin.

The only pickup problem is the vintage noiseless things. soon to be rectified with the original mim pickups and maybe a dimarzio fs2 in the neck. Even the pots are bad, scratchy, no taper in em at all. full tone all the way down to 2 then zero tone. The volumes just as bad. The difference between 10 and 9 is staggering then little response all the way down to zero and the tone change is unbearable despite the treble bleed.
All i want out of this strat is a knopfleresque mid and bridge tone. Seems vintage noiseless cant provide it
The body resonates like you would not believe. when you play the guitar you cant help but smile because your ribcage is being tickled by the vibrations of the guitar. I really cant see the problem being the tone of the guitar itself. I tried the pickups in a basswood body and they were horrible in that too.
