Are the floyd rose tremolos worth the extra $100 bucks? Or are the Standard Fender tremolos just fine?

the floyd rose trems are definantley worth it. You can bend much farther and bend any witch way. they also havce extreme tuning stability so they almost never go out of tune.

I agree completely with the post abobe. However, I think the actual answer on "being worth it" depends more on your playing style. If you are a heavy trem user, then "yes". If you will barely use it like many players, than I would say "no".

Just my $0.02...

If you want to play like Eddie Van Halen then you need the Floyd.

If you want to play like - well, all the people that use a regular Fender trem, then no, you don't need it.

Personally, I find a modern Fender two point floating trem a very functional animal indeed. I can bend up a tone or more, and down nearly to the wood, and it returns to pitch just fine. But then I most certainly can't play like Eddie...

Cheers - C

I get a minor 3rd on the Gstring and a whole tone on the highE with a traditional synchronized trem. Floyds detract from the tone of a guitar n my opinion. the tone in floyds comes directly from the string anchors and it aint that good even on floyd originals. You may want to stay sacrificing the tone on your no'1 and get a.n.other to suit your wham activity.

The Floyd can effect the entire way you play if you so desire. And since its extra fun without knocking your guitar completely out of tune, then sure, its worth that extra $100. :D

It's completely different. The stock is more for mellower use. Jeff Beck can do quite a bit from that stock (well, custom shop-ish) trem (granted he has a roller nut too).

If I were playing Vai or Eddie that required dive bombs and Satriani "lizard down the throat" warbles, I probably wouldn't be playing that on my strat. I'd grab (or get) a different guitar that's more suited to that type of playing style.

I have several guitars, for various tones and styles. On my main strat, I don't even use the trem. I have the springs tightened so it's flush and bening strings even 2.5 steps doesn't move it. I change tunings a lot and rarely use a trem for most of the things I play anyway. When I need that, I'll grab one of my 80's hair metal guitars and let 'er rip!

Just remember, if you change tunings a lot they're more hassle than they're worth.

don't even think about it!!!! the fender trem is awesome, just adjust it to how you like. you also will ruin the VALUE of your strat if you modify it. i have a deluxe and can whammy all day long and never go out of tune.like i said, set up the factory trem and remember that it was good enough for SRV, JIMI , AND ALL YOUR STRAT HEROS !!!!!!!!! javascript:emoticon('')
