I prefer flat sawn; not the prettiest, but I think it transmits string vibration best

Birdseye flame combo ..... because it's so purdey!
I think the others have something to do with the cut rather than appearance :D

Yeah thats what I mean. I.e you can have those cuts and you can tell by the grain but the flame or birdseye is more of an appearance rather than a cut ... though how it looks depends on the cut if that makes sense. Flame can be quarter sawn and birdseye flat .
If I had to go cut then quarter sawn is more stable I am led to believe but for appearance flame or birdseye.. :D
