I'm just wondering if it is possible to special order a different color on a Strat. Not some random color, but one from the color samples that they have under the products section. So is this possible? And if it is where do you have to order the different color?

The words you are searching for are "Custom Shop".

How's your bank balance?

Don't stress about price. Contact them and ask, then you have a goal of how much to save. I still want to buy 2 or 3 Blue Pearl Burst strat and tele bodies for when I'm a rawk star. Only way to get them is custom shop. Price isn't too big a deal because you'll be getting choice wood and higher craftsmanship.

When I was shopping for my American Strat, I was disappointed with my color selection.

I didn't want the 3 tone Sunburst, because it's a popular color and it seems that everyone has it. I wanted something that was a bit different. I saw a 2008 American Strat, Sienna Sunburst (which I loved), but it wasn't offered for the American Deluxe. From there I was just settling. It was between Artic White and Chrome Silver.

I ordered the Chrome Silver and was delightfully surprised when I saw the guitar in person. Now I really love it, and if something happened to that guitar, I would probably order the same color to replace it.

So for me......compromise is better than paying out big bucks for a Custom made guitar. After all......it's the guitar that made the difference for me, and not the color. I just happened to luck out and accidently pick a color Combination that I now love.

Forever I wanted a black strat ala Clapton, but I wanted a rosewood fretboard.

Fastforward to last year and I picked up an 06 HWY1 with a flat black body and rosewood fretboard. I love it!

I had an 91 MIA STD Olympic white with a maple fret board. I bought it because it was inexpensive.

Maybe not Custom Shop but if it's outside of the variety of standard colors that they have available for that particular model you may not have to go to the custom shop but will probably have to pay a little extra if it's now in their choice of the standard colors available for that particular model.

Yeah the guitar I don't want to customize, just the sky blue paint finish.

Strat Standard HSS with Locking Tremolo and a Sky Blue paint job which is availible under Fenders Color Chart. I would change the pickups myself.

I was looking at the pricing on some other guitars made by fender and certain colors are $50 more. Even if it means I don't get my locking tremolo.

Am I missing somthing?
Are u asking if u can get an advertised color frm the products section?
Isn't that as easy as doing a special order from a local dealer?

Custom shop is only necessary for a color that isn't currently offered.
Or am I totally misunderstanding you GuitarPlayer2927?
