Hi Guys
My Hank Marvin custom shop strat arrived yesterday and it's Truly beautiful, always wanted one. Compared it to my dads Mexican built strat and his is slightly darker red even though both fiesta red. My custom built is slightly pinkish but it looks amazing with the gold fittings. Is this common with different builds??
Cheers
Rob

Definitely! I also have a CS Fiesta Red Strat (non-Hank) and it hasn't (yet) gone that pinky shade you're talking about, even though it's also nitro. Just takes time, I think...

Cheers - Peter.

Any Fender's solid color has different shades or "interpretations", depending for instance on the paint type/manufacture batch/thickness, factory (MIA, MIM, MIJ/CIJ, MIElsewhere...) base layers used, manufacturing year, aging, position of the planets etc.

I'd guess the MIM would be polyester finished, the CS probably nitro, so even with time the poly will fade less - after all, resistance against fading was one of the reasons poly came to the selection.
And of course, painters in Ensenada and Corona may have a different paint shade to begin with.

Plus, your situation (guitars side by side) is about the only surefire way to compare two Fiesta Red shades - the usual system of looking at different pics on the computer screen lies a lot.

And Mr. Hank B. Marvin... well, he was trying to get a "Flamingo Pink" Strat, but there was no such animal.

For any useful help we could provide, maybe a pic of the Fiesta Red pair..?

Thanks JM, saved me hunting around or taking another pic!

However, Rob... I would say that due to the vagaries of the camera/lighting/angle, it IS a little more pinky/orangey than what you can see here. Also, the plastics aren't doing the body colour any favours. We've discussed here previously about a better colour - probably parchment - but I just haven't got around to it yet! And even though it's reversible, I don't really want to change too much on a CS guitar. At the price, you shouldn't have to, should you?!

And I'm sure JM is right, the Mex will be poly; the CS will be nitro. You can't really compare the two.

Anyway, let's have a look at your Strat in one of my favourite colours!

Cheers - Peter.

Congratulations! I love the look of Hank Marvin's strat. Something about the gold hardware on that fiesta red. 8)
