I bought a 1996 American standard stratocaster in Tokyo or at least it looks like one.
However, I put its serial number to search, and the result is

ERIC CLAPTON STRATOCASTER® (1988-2001)
Serial #: N61@@@@@@
Brand: Fender
Product Category: Guitars
Product Type: Stratocaster®

Here is the photo

Can anyon tell what is going on?

It's definitely *NOT* an Eric Clapton signature Strat.

From the photos it seems to be a '96 American Standard model.

Where was this search?

That result is what you get from Fender's own pages: Product Registration Serial Search

Seems like a major glitch by Fender, so if any moderators read this, maybe forward the message to the proper department in charge of this.
And romanticamaj, you could email consumerrelations@fender.com with the serial and explain the situation, see how they respond.

Today, regarding a Jazzmaster authenticity on another topic, I tested its serial number on that Product Registration Serial Search page. A Japanese T-serial brought up a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and a Jaguar Bass - so two instruments for one serial number, neither model's manufacturing period would fit even the T-serial category...

Romanticamaj, would be nice to hear if Fender has responded to your Strat's odd serial number search result.
The guitar looks OK for the AmStd (as Arjay already wrote), it's just the Fender number search that seems to be wrong.

I wonder if the data base has been hacked? It seems like these erroneous spec sheets have only shown up recently.
