Picked up a used Strat today which I originally believed to be a USA deluxe however I now know not the case. Ive pulled the neck and scratch plate off and everything appears to be original and from the factory. The neck and pocket are stamped 2003 and both appear to be genuine and untampered. The serial number on the rear of the head Z3063217. I thought maybe a Highway one but it has the smaller headstock. The sunburst colour is the same as a USA deluxe. I've sent Fender consumer an email to assist ID ing the serial number see what it was when it left the factory but may be a few days coming back. I'm in Thailand by the way if that makes any difference (special Asian model?). I'm hoping someone may be able to solve the mystery in the meantime.

A few things have totally thrown me?

6 screw vintage style bridge
No micro tilt adjust hole on the neck plate
Neck plate looks strange? I've never seen one like this before
Has Noise less N3 Pick ups
It has the old style 80's 90's Embossed rectangular hard case

Without pics just a guess but probably a modified highway one.
The early ones had a small headstock.
N3 pickups were not available till much later so definitely added if indeed they are N3s and not just the old noiseless :D

Agree with j-j, the best guess (from now on, I'll be using TTIUWP a lot; it's short for this topic is useless without pics...) would be a Highway One, plus mods.

The original pickups should be "Vintage Style Single-Coil Strat® Pickups with Staggered Pole Pieces, Alnico Magnets". Small headstock, two string guides. Model number 011-(1100 for rosewood, 1102 for maple)-300. The original neck plate has nothing unusual - same plate was used in many models.

All sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see the pictures.

Pretend Noiseless pickups are something of a favourite with fakers as they can pretend the pretend Strat is of a higher specification.
