Good morning,

I have a doubt with my Fender Stratocaster JV 1983, I saw about the year and JV that match with the specs of the normal JV stratocaster guitar, but the Caracthers on the body are not acurrate.

I read Fender ones have B or C on the body wrotten but not EX. Thosse EX i've heard always appears on Squier bodies JV also of the same period.

I was quite sure this guitar was completly original, but now i'm having my doubts, anway i consider very difficult somebody mix thosse guitars when they actualy are very difficult to find.

If somebody can help me with i will apreciate very much, thanks!

The electronics do not seem to be the typical Squier fare. Those are alnico pickups with cloth push-back lead-in wire, full-size pots, a CRL or Oak/Grigsby selector switch and an aluminum pickguard shield. If there's any issue at all it's that *somebody* does not seem to know how to string a Strat equipped with split-post tuners......

Arjay

If Arjay meant it's legit, I'll tend to agree, (a) at this point and (b) based on those pics only.

I'd guess that second string tree hole isn't original. Is that really bright green in the logo the same in real life, or just the photo? And what's the serial beginning, the first two numbers after JV?

Hi, about the Logo, it's little green i don't know why, the flash made it in the picture super green, but in reality it's like quite green. The serial starts with 72.

Cheers!

OK for both of those.
My gut feeling still says this is a legit Fender - I see none of the usually typical signs for fakes, and all details keep checking out.

stratele52, you posted two Squier links - is there something in the OP's guitar that would suggest the Fender headstock logo is not original?

And just BTW, I myself rank eighties MIJ Squiers and Fenders at about the same (= high) level - the differences are more between individual guitars/models than logo for logo.

Just for information, I know nothing about Squier

Why not !
New CTS pots ( no need Fender ) are not expensive and if you have some skill in soldering and the good tools do it . If not, forget it, you may not hear the difference with CTS pot.

Knobs may not fit on CTS split shaft.

If I'm not mistaken in the early to mid 80's Fender Japan marked bodies intended for Export with an EX.

Unless they are broken, I don't see the point.
