As everyone has been saying, you should really try both out. But to reiterate the fact, you really should. It's all based on what type of music you want to play. I have both an Epi Les Paul and a MiM strat. Both are great guitars but are better geared towards specific genres. The strat is more versatile and great for blues, light rock, and even some heavier stuff. You can pull off the heavy stuff with the right amp if that's what you're looking for, but if you're focusing on more heavy music, a les paul or HSS strat would be a better choice for that.

I to just went thru this same question and went with mim Lone Star , it seems to be a little more versatile and with the pearly gate can get some good crunch. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Delu ... 1370112.gc

When I tried them both out I ended up buying the HSS. My wife upon hearing that the HSS nickname is Fat Strat she says I should change my signature to Fat Man with a Fat Strat.

You'll have to try out both... it is a personal preference. Can't say which is better... I have a Charvel, and Epiphone Les Paul Special, and A Fender Strat HSS, and I love them all because they sound so different and play differently.

If your on a budget take the epiphone, but if you have the money go for a fender or gibson, I like fender's bodies better, yet gibson guitars are known for performance and quality. Whatever you would want would be best tho.

Glad to hear it. I have had mine for a year and a half and it has been a great asset. It sounds rich and vibrant unplugged and when plugged in, the switching options with the HSS knob-top button make it a journeyman guitarist's main "tool".

Mo Deffinly a great ax
