Hi Everyone, when I first bought my Tele I originally thought I wanted a Les Paul.. I fell in love with the fit and feel of the Tele over the other guitars I tried out that day so I bought the Tele. Well I still yearned for something with humbuckers so I have on its way a dual Shawbucker Strat. So it looks like I'm going to be a Fender only girl for a while (well the solid body guitars at least. my acoustic is a Taylor). I hate to say it but I didn't try out this guitar I am sort of taking it on faith because I have had too many negative experiences recently in the guitar shops and just need to take a break from it.

this image is from Sweetwater - it won't stay up that long but wanted to share my happy news. I'm still searching for an amp.

Congrats on the new guitar.
Never played a dual humbucker strat and would be interested in your thoughts once youhave the guitar to hand. :D

It's remarkable how different they don't sound.
You can tell it's a humbucker but you can also tell it's a Strat.
It's an underrated configuration.

Even the models known for past quality are now coming up sketchy.
It's hard to know what a good safe bet might be anymore.

For that reason, I'm suggesting maybe you look outside the camp.
Many successful amp companies started inside this camp.
I won't mention a brand name.
Maybe just search for Express 5:25
It will run you about 1/3 more than a DRRI.

Congratulations on your new guitar.

I know exactly what you mean about trying guitars in a guitar shop. My last four were all bought based on specification over the Internet.

In each case, on first impression, had I tried them in the flesh I might not have bought them. However, as we have learnt each others foibles I now have very few regrets and would be hard pressed to get rid of any of them.

The joy of a Strat is they are so flexible and adaptable that if it has something about it that realy annoys you there are few aspects that you can't change.

There's always the vintage market......

Look at some of the botique mfrs., if you decide not to go with fender amps i purchased a used allen accomplice jr. On reverb about a year ago for around a grand. Amazing sound, light, and adjusting the bias is easy. There are also amps by vintage sounds and headstrong that are great and dependable.

and the clone market which is already more affordable and very soon will be the only option for those with wallets less fortified. Where I live anyways.

It's kind of scary in a way.
The thought that within my lifetime there will be discussions about whether an amp is a fake clone or not.
That has to be one of the next new areas of fraud and cheapness.
For now at least, I'm just glad there are real amps available at less than collector pricing.
Albeit not from Fender.
It's a sad day when a die hard Fender man like me has to say that.

Indeed.

It's tragic.

It does seem strange that small manufactures can provide hand wired Fender clones for less than Fender. I appreciate that Fenders overheads are much greater than a man in a shed but that should be offset by savings in volume.

I also appreciate that a lot of these artisan built Fender clones are based on kits from Shina so the core elements (chassis, cabinets, transformers) are going to be cheap, but they seem to make fine little amps. I am very happy with the one I bought (second hand) although I may yet rewire it to use an original spec rectifier valve.

Although not hand wired, and also produced in China (are we allowed to say that again?) There seems to have been little in the budget valve market from Fender since the Champion 600. I appreciate they ran sundry Pawn Shop offerings which were reasonable value (although not truly cheap) but their potential was ruined by focusing on being unusual.

I was going to say that I don't think I I have ever bought a new amp but I did buy a Bugera V5 new. It is actually a good little budget amp and much better after a valve and speaker swap.

I have a feeling I'm going to love the guitar. I am so new to playing it was probably silly of me to buy another one already. I know they'll take it back if I'm unhappy with it. It should arrive Wednesday so cross your fingers I actually somehow arrange to be home for the delivery. No way am I having it delivered w/o signature.

This journey is so awesome for me. Not only with the whole equipment thing (I'm a geek-ette so it geeks me out too) but I am listening to music I never would have though of because this board's suggestions for 'first solos'. It's a happy time! thanks for all your kind words, suggestions, etc!
