I bought a bit of a Frankenstein when I was 17, I'm 53 now. It's a 1964 esquire neck on what I think is a 1970 strat body. Anyone have any advice on trying to track the other body/neck? It's the best playing guitar I've ever had, but curiosity has gotten ahold of me.

Sounds like a job for "Axe Ventura -- Strat Detective".

Sounds like you need to speak to Steve Morse - his original Frankenstein was the other way around.

So you are looking for a guitar with a 64 Esquire body and a 70 Strat neck? That should be easy to find....NOT!

I think you will have to resign yourself to accepting it is what it is. You like the guitar how it is and changing either part is likely to change the feel of the guitar dramatically.

Also, you have had that guitar for comming on 40 years. If you change either part you will no longer have that guitar.

While you may possibly find either part, of the correct age, second hand they are likely to be a significant price due to the age. Because the resulting guitar/guitars lack provenance, being Bitsas, it is unlikely they will comand the value of an original of similar vintage. Also, as a Bitsa there is no guarantee the hardware will be correct so you could then end up chasing harware of appropriate vintage for two guitars.

I could be wrong and I'm sure you want to hear that buying a $500 neck/body will give you a $10,000 guitar. That might happen, but because of all the factors noted above, I think the odds are stacked against you.
