Hi everybody!

I have bought a black 1993 Stratocaster (serial number N3*****).
Inside the body there isn't any serial number. Is it possibile that no serial is inserted in the body of '90s am standard? Or the original body has been replaced?

The body has the typical "swimming pool" under the pick guard.

Thanks for your precious help!

Bodies do not typically carry a serial number.
There is generally a bar code part number with the last digits indicating color.
There should be a stamp date in the neck cavity close to the date on the neck.
Other markings and cnc holes on the body can indicate the type and country of origin.
Hope this helps. :D

On the CNC guide holes, quoting Sir Schwarz: "Some have guides in obvious places, some do not. There are differences in programming from Corona to Ensenada ----as well as from machine to machine within the plants."

If you have doubts about the originality, post pics of the guitar - all sides, all details, including the insides, as large and high res as possible.
Someone in the forum can usually help.

I would not be getting alarmed at this stage.
There may well be bo significant markings but if the body has the swimming pool, two point trem and the microtilt then it is probably ok ....

I'm not sure when Fender started the bar code stickers - it was probably after 1993 anyway. Fender only briefly put stickers with the guitar's serial number in the neck pocket of the body and the heel of the neck (plus also on the back of the pickguard for Strats and Leads) toward the end of the CBS era. I think the only time frame would be maybe 1978-1982 - I know my 1979 Lead II had these stickers that all matched the serial number on the headstock. I'm not sure when this started; I've seen the stickers on photos of "S9" serial number Strats and the "S9" serial numbers were used from 1978 through 1981 . If the 1983-84 Standard and Elite models had these, but they would certainly be the last that ever had them.

Besides posting photos there are a couple of features that would be found on a 1993 American Standard body - the micro-tilt mechanism, a 2-post tremolo, and the open "swimming pool" rout under the pickguard.

Yes John barcodes may well have come after 93.
My 95 standard definitely had one in the route but that is not to say it was the rule :D
