There are alot of topics posted in this forum on the highway one...
My first reaction of course is that it doesn't matter what we think...
Only what you think! The best feeling sounding guitar in my hand could be the worst in yours.

Now, I went over this guitar before deciding I like the american standard better.
I have been told the parts are MiA and assembled in Mexico...
One store I found that didn't have them said they wouldn't stock them.
They said that the ones they had recieved had to many problems so they stopped ordering them.
When asked what the problems were I was told they weren't the same ones everytime.
With that said, I played the highway one at GC here in FL & overall I give this instrument a fair to good rating...
Although, I personally found myself more attracted these:
1. American Deluxe
2. American Standard
3. Lonestar
4. Roadhouse

But that's just me. You should play them all...
Go with what is comfortable & seems to bring out the creativity in your playing.

I think the Highway One is a quite functional electric guitar.

The big headstock fools people into thinking it's a vintage '70s axe!

I had an upgraded HSS and have an FSR Highway One with Custom SHop 69s. The HSS pickups to me were better than the 69's. I just liked the Surf Green better than the Sunburst. Now the Surf Green has Hot Noiseless and a Super Distortion in the bridge, but I think the Atomic Humbucker is one of the best pickups I've ever played with.

I have got an '02 Highway 1 not upgraded and I absolutely love it.I've had some time on my hands lately and have been visiting all the GC in my area and have played a bunch of other newer Strats and have not found a neck I like anywhere's near as much as I like mine.Again it's all a matter of what feels good to you.And I hear the new upgraded are real good guitars

ive played one before and i think they have an amazing sound. its a perfect guitar for modern music but still keeps the characteristics of a strat. I would buy one but for some reason i find the big headstocks unnatractive.

I have an '04 HWY1 Strat and an '03 HWY 1 Tele.

GREAT guitars!!! No issues whatsoever. Love the sound and the matte finish.
And they ARE US made at the Corona plant as an FYI.

He left because we wouldn't bow down and agree with him.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the few I've played. I compared one head-to-head with a Deluxe Players Strat, and really thought it paled in comparison. There was no way I would pay more for a guitar I liked less, just because it was made in the United States.

I have an '02 Hwy1 Strat that gets the most playing time of my dozen guitars. I bought mine used and it must have been modded because I DO have a reverse wound middle p/u. It has a rosewood board and I prefer maple, but I love it anyway. I'm not sure I like some of the latest changes in the Hwy1 like the large headstock.

BTW, I have a Hwy1 Tele, too.
