Hey everyone,

Here I am again. Last time I asked if some strats where real, but by the tume I wanted to buy them they where sold. So I found these 2 strats now. http://imgur.com/a/0JPxd I noticed that the black one has a hole on its back. Is this normal? The white one has quite an odd story. The seller says the neck got replaced in the 80's. He doesn't know which model it is. So my questions are, are these strats real? Are they USA models, if so, which ones? Which one would you buy (the black one goes for 630 euros and the white one for 500)?

With kind regards,

André

With these poor quality pictures, anything definitive is difficult to say.

The white one looks as if a decal was put onto a non-Fender neck, meaning a fake, backed up by the fact that the seller didn't know which model of neck it is. I wouldn't touch that one.

The black one has many of the attributes of an American Series (or American Standard), post 1995, however, when you zoom in on the serial number, it appears that the first couple of digits are scratched out, and the decal on the front of the headstock is not clear, can't make out "Made in ...."

Again, the pictures are so poor, the details are not clear, I would want to inspect the black one in person to get a better look.

You are far more likely to get a response if you include any pictures in a thread rather than expecting people to go to another site to see them.

Seconded. I for one didn't bother to follow the link.

Perhaps you should buy used from a retail shop near you, especially since your worried about buying a fake. They are less likely to offer fakes, imo and you will be able to play/inspect the item more thoroughly.
Good Luck w/ your purchase.

As already stated these pictures are inconclusive.

There are too many things that can be wrong on a guitar related to its playability to not play it in person. ESPECIALLY for product that was made in the 1980s where quality was sporadic for all makers. My only exception to that is buying new, where today's quality is so much better than previous decades and can also be returned.
