There's no battery indicator on the Powerhouse - unless you mean a Fender/Roland VG which uses that feature for its battery holder pack.

Without pictures we're unable to determine if your guitar is a MiM Powerhouse or a MiA VG.

If your guitar is in fact a Powerhouse Strat, the battery is switched on whenever an instrument cable is plugged into the output jack.

I can't post a photo but the serial is
MZ 7120909
And it is " Deluxe series"
And has the period pick guard and battery compartment on back
The light Never comes on except when removing the battery and then only briefly

How to post pics - Nutter's quick start guide

Edit: viewtopic.php?t=38251
Edit2: I've never seen one, but there seems to have been a Powerhouse® Strat® model 013-9500/9502 (I quoted the name and the ®'s from the 2005 service diagram - it's not called a Deluxe, but has a "Deluxe series" neck, in a "Powerhouse Strat®" body...) with a Kingman battery holder, part number 0065623000, with a light...
Anyway, the battery is connected with the output jack, so my +1 to the +1 Chromeface gave to Arjay.
