Looks to be quarter-sawn maple on that neck.

Schweet!

While I prefer the feel of rosewood nothing beats the classic look of a black body, white pickguard and maple neck. Well done!

Very nice! I had no idea a 60th Anniversary CS NOS was produced. I have the AV '54 60th and thought it was the highest end NOS '54 that Fender produced for the 60th anniversary.

What's the NOS parts on it?
(If it's a reissue or replica made with all new parts, it's not NOS.)

That's what NOS means (New Old Stock). The Fender Custom Shop builds the guitar as a whole (parts and all) exactly like it was in 1954 using the same materials and tooling with no relicing or aging treatment.

That's what NOS means (New Old Stock).

Note the "old stock" part of NOS. It's used for parts and materials (stock) that have been sitting in storage, but never used. If it's all new materials, it's not NOS, but a replica made from new stock.
Examples of NOS include when an amp uses unused tubes actually made in the 60s and not new ones, or when Gibson discovered a pall of pre-CITES Brazilian rosewood, or Fender makes a guitar from 50 year old wood.

I know Fender Custom Shop has used the term to signify "non-relic", but that's based on them relicing almost everything by default these days, and still just wrong, except in the cases where they have indeed used old stock in new instruments.

Why argue with Blue Notes? He didn't name the damn thing.

You should take your concerns up with Fender corporate -- that's where the responsibility lies.

That is my understanding. I think it was on a NAM video a few years back The idea is it is as if the guitar was made (say) 50 years ago and has been hidden in a cupboard ever since. This compared to a guitar as if it were made 50 years ago and used in the intervening time. Both have all the authentic features of a guitar made 50 years ago it is just one looks as if it is new and one looks used.

If they ever found any real unused old stock, of anything, you can bet they would make a big thing about it. I forget the model name but there is a bit of a flurry in emails currently over guitars made from old timber reserves. Recently they were charging silly money for Blues Juniors with cabinets made out of old whisky barrels. They did look superb (if you like that sort of thing) but probably had almost no additional acoustic merit and certainly none relative to the inflated price.

+1

A classic (ooh, that pesky descriptive once again) case of symbolism over substance.

Most definitely the latter danagos, already getting some hazy spots under the arm, and fingerboard.
