If a big headstock is important, though I don't understand what difference that would make to the sound, then American Specials might be the place to look.

And, it doesn't take a Stratocaster (any color) to sound like Gilmour:

He doesn't seem entirely comfortable with that; a few glitched notes here and there and not as fluid as we might expect...or perhaps that is just me.
Off topic, I know, but wow -I loved that! OK, the backing's great and all that, but although I could easily play those notes (not that I would as I'm long past copying other people!) I could never make it sound so good! Obviously I've heard the song loads of times but I'll now be seeking out that video on YouTube (I presume?)!

Cheers - Peter.

OK....Here's my two cents...

First off....in matters Gilmour:

The online bible: http://www.gilmourish.com/

A must own about the guitar: http://www.theblackstrat.com/The_Black_ ... ome...html

A must own when you've saved your pennies: Image

Until then...as previously suggested...shop around. Play 'em. You don't need to spend a lot of bucks for an intro Strat. The Mexican guitars are well built and very popular even among professional musicians. As to the present day, I would not eschew the idea of buying the current issue. They are getting very good review. What ever winds your clock.

Let us know what you decide.

Doc
