Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a set of raw vintage springs to try in one of my strats. Currently they both have a 3 spring setup and the tremolo on both guitars is decked (not floating but can be pushed down).

Does anyone have experience with these? Any tone differences?

Thanks!

You'll find more sonic improvement simply by replacing your nickel-plated string tree with one finished in chrome.

I found the chrome one way too bright.

With regard to the springs, I fitted vintage springs to my 62 Road Worn (they were cheap and I thought "Why not?"). The sonic difference was as you would expect and as notable as replacing the MiM spring claw with a period correct one.

 Not all of us can afford/justify the real thing and it makes me happy.

With springs, apart from them not coming loose and not rattling, the only thing that matters is the amount of tension. Which you can adjust with a pair of pliers or a screwdriver.
But if it makes you happy, good for you!
