Hey everyone, I was watching the Rock Honors: The Who (as I'm sure many of you were too!), and I couldn't help but notice Pete's outstanding tone. I also noticed that his pickups looked differently from my Strat's, or any other Strat's I've ever seen. The pole-pieces were covered up, almost like on an LP's humbuckers. I know he could have just had covers over the pickups, but the sound of his Strat was unearthly. If anyone has any idea of what his Strat was packing, please let me know!

Last I read/saw, they are Lace Sensors as Townshend uses Clapton Signature Strats (older ones).

That's what I posted from Wiki, anyway (not the most reliable source).

'Zactly. Check out this current thread:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=10494

There has been a rumour around for a long while that Fender plan a signature issue of Townshend's Strat. Which would be a bit odd, since it is already the signature model of his friend Eric, plus extra mods.

Cheers - C

I think they may still be available on a couple of Signature Strats. Apart from that, Fender and Lace seemed to part company a while ago, so if you want Sensors you are going to have to buy them seperately and modify a stock guitar.

Pete Townshend uses Lace Sensor Golds, if memory serves - but check that to be sure...
