I saw on YouTube a tech saying all new Fenders have a layer of conductive shielding paint under the cavity finishing, is that correct? So no need for copper tape or foil, just check that the ground screws are secured onto the body. Is that correct? Thanks

I could be wrong, to me it is too expensive for Fender to put that on every guitar.
Easy to check with a meter if your guitar have conductive paint.

Please give link for YouTube

I checked mine and it is exactly how it was described in the video e.g. wire bolted to the cavity

Yes, it is true. They have been using shielding paint for several years.

I try both , copper tape and black Paint. Copper tape look ugly to me, I will not use it anymore.

Mostly. I have one oddball Tele which lacks the shielding paint, but a plate and ground screw on the pickup ground wire is still screwed into the wood. I think the coffee brewer must have been broken in the Ensenada factory that day.

Anyhow, the shielding is often a bit of placebo. Unless it is a complete Faraday cage that extends all around the electronics with all gaps small enough to not let the radio waves bandwidths through, it won't do as much as many might think.
You get cell phone reception on a phone with a metal shield on the back, sitting in a metal car. Heck, even on a plane. As long as there are gaps big enough, the waves will get in and bounce until they hit what works as an antenna. 80% shielding is almost as good as none.

+1

However, not all Fender guitars have the shielding paint -- excluded are the MIA vintage re-issues, all of the MIM "Classic Series" models (which are built to generically resemble their respective eras), and *some* of the artist signature instruments that are based on vintage-spec guitars.

And most of them work just fine! :)

In my experience, low quality cables is a far more common source of noise. After spending a couple of grand on a guitar and amp, some feel a need to save a couple of bucks on cables.

Penny-wise but pound-foolish.

I wonder if the back cavity is shielded, the same grounding is wired onto the wood.
