Try opening each image individually then selecting the "IMG" link from the menu to the right of the pic and posting it with your message.

Nice guitar BTW.

Very nice and we'll done for getting the photos up, there will be no stopping you now. I'm a sucker for sunburst.

Also Fender switched prefix Z to US in early 2010. Your guitar was made before April 2010.

Yes, thanks to all for your help and replies. Customer service has given me a very detailed response from their database: "Your new guitar is in our database as a Fender American Stratocaster RW 3TS, made on 10/04/2001". I believe I got it at a good price and love the way it plays.
thanks again.

I would consider such an answer from Fender as the gospel truth.

Did they look at pictures or just run the serial #? Because what about:

consider that fakers often copy instruments to match the serial number so just because the number matches the look of the guitar isnt a 100% guarantee.

There is such a big difference in the price of a cheap Strat look alike and top end legitimate Stratocaster that it is too great a temptation for low life's trying to make a quick buck.

It sickens me that people who may have scrimmped and saved to buy their dream guitar might got conned into buying a cheap fake.

Fortunately a great many fakes are produced by people who don't understand the subtle differences that make real Strats special. They can be relatively easy to spot by people with experience of Strats. The down side is you are most likely to spot a fake if you already own a Strat (or Strats) so this makes first time buyers vulnerable.

Better fakes are more difficult to spot and require a greater in depth knowledge of different details of Strats and changes which have taken place over the years.

You're misreading his serial number; you only look at the first digit on the "letter + digit" format so you read it as "Z1" or 2001 - you'll notice that the "Z1" is in one font, and the "010731" is slightly different. And his Strat was confirmed as a 2001 American Series by Fender.

In 2010 Fender used 3 different serial number formats - "Z9xxxxxx", which was the final run-out of the Z9/2009 decals in January, followed by "10xxxxxx", used from roughly January-March, and finally "US10xxxxxx" starting in March/April.
