Pics are mandatory for an accurate identification.

Figure it out.

You need to lodge pictures elsewhere (Fliker/Facebook etc.) and link to them. This site doest have the facility to down load and host images directly.

If you email Fender Customer Services they will give you the specification based on the Serial number.

As you have already bought the guitar prepare yourself as this will go one of two ways. MiA Strats are a massive target for fakers with so many cheap knock offs available.

Agreed - there's too many digits in that serial number the OP provided. There should be only 6 digits after the "Z1" prefix. Hopefully the serial number is just a typo by the OP; but as everyone says photos are a must to figure out if it is legit or if it is a fake/counterfeit.

It can't be said often enough, but the time to ask questions about a guitar is before buying it, not after.

thanks anyway by the time this was posted, (5 days and one day difference between the the first and second) i got the answer from customer service. I only wanted confirmation, apparently you do not want to help others thanks anyway, by the way it is not phony and is a 2001 american stratocaster, real helpful man real helpful.....and there was an extra zero z1010731. So excuse me for posting an extra thread and adding an extra zero, sorry I was so dumb but this was my second fender my first was a 1973 telecaster deluxe, so no more flames and I will not ask any other questions.

I hope you do realize that Fender's reps don't frequent the forum, and that we're only Fender players/owners. We questioned the serial number because some of the various fakes out there do have extra digits in their serial numbers - we just wanted to verify that it was a typo and not something else.

As Fender owners/players we also don't have access to the internal database that Fender's Consumer Relations has access to, that's one reason why we ask for photos. The other reason is that some of the current Chinese fakes are using serial numbers that mimic real Fender serial numbers.

Hey, if you think that people here asking for a bit more information are being "unhelpful" - when they are in fact trying to help you - then so be it and good luck getting info elsewhere.

How rude? So suggesting you contact customer services obviously wasn't helpful, despite being the route which gained you an answer?

Anybody would think it was our fault that you typed the Serial number wrong ...twice.

And while you are feeling smug consider that fakers often copy instruments to match the serial number so just because the number matches the look of the guitar isnt a 100% guarantee.

+1

As well, they frequently post pics of their fakery here (with an equally falsified tale) then ask us for a critique so that they may hone their counterfeiting skills.

We get it all here. And we do our best to weed out the scams and the scammers.

Your welcome!

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I did not say that customer service did not give me the information they did. I know how chinese can reproduce things i lived there for 5 years. I sent the photos to customer service and they authenticated it for me. I actually posted the wrong serial number and that is my fault but i wrote it down wrong at the shop, and in the interim I was doing research elsewhere to see if it was a real serial #. When I posted two seperate threads here, (because I didnt think it was posting) I was flamed. Perhaps I should have been more kind to the people that were helpful, again my fault sorry for that.

Nope, your link requires signing in to iCloud.
A pic you want to show must be in some pic file form (.jpg works) and uploaded somewhere in the information super highway.
