i have an american strat '62 made in 1999. i had the guitar re fretted with jumbo frets and also a compound radius made.

the guitar doesnt stay in tune, and seems to have an overall out of tune sound to it even when the saddles are set correctly. i have another start that doesnt have any of these problems, hence, i string the guitar correctly, the bridge has all five springs attached to it (the bridge rests well on the body), and the pickup's height is coffect.

anybody has any ideas that can help? thanks

sounds like the refret/re-radius wasn't done properly. Aside from taking it to a different tech (dont use the one that got it wrong in the first place) i'd get a new neck.

Are the strings hanging up in the nut?

Try lowering the pickups a lot and see if anything improves.
The problem could be the dreaded "Stratitis" .... google that for fun.

I think a few things happeded here.
1) The strings are a different gauge than what the neck tension was set for.
2) The vibratto springs are too loose.
3) The intonation needs to be reset.

Tuning problems usually follow with guitars that have vibratto. Whenever you change one string up or down in tuning it changes the tension on the spring. So if the spring is too loose all hell breaks loose when you try to tune all five or six strings (depending on how you're set up).
