Based only on the top picture, I would say "probably Japanese or Korean". The reason is the screw, which appears to have a straight cut like on Japanese + screws, and not a tapered cut like on Phillips head screws.

(And the neck doesn't even look like a Squier, but a fake. The truss rod hole is not on the $@!&# but too high up, which is a telltale sign for Chinese fakes, and for a 22 fret, it has too much space on the lip beyond the last fret. Chances are it won't intone very well, so good thing you changed it.)

I'm glad it plays well and that you have emotional attachment to it. That's ultimately what matters. When you one day buy the farm, your estate probably won't get much for it, so play it enough that it wears out with you.

Thanks,
Exactly what i have in mind - great piece of emotional attachment, rather not possible to sell for a good piece of money :D

Last owner claims that he bought it as a original Fender - I'm getting more and more doubtfull, (it was already relic then).

That should of course have been s-l-o-p-e.
$@!&# Fender's stupid censoring; it only calls attention to slurs, even when no slur was used.

Meanwhile the dumbass screening software will let other offending words and phrases slip through.
