What do I do about the static noise when my fingers move across the pick guard on my Mex Strat?

When this happens to me I wipe the pick guard down with a dry sheet and it solves the issue

Aaaah! And there was me thinking "How does sand paper remove static?"

You can also get anti static spray foam cleaners for computer equipment.

Putting some Lubriderm on your hands won't hurt either.
And wear shoes with leather soles, not plastic/rubber.
And if at home, get a humidifier for the winter months.
