Do you always remove your Strat trem arm when you put it in a case or gig bag?

I take mine out every time. Just a habit I picked up.

Yes. It's a good idea to do that because the arm may snap.

I always remove it.

Yes, I always remove it, and because I use a trem hole spring, I turn the guitar over and take the spring out for safe keeping, too.

One of my former guitar teachers allowed one of his students to use his guitar. When the kid was done, they did not remove the arm and put it back in the case. The case would not close completely, so they forced it shut. The bridge broke away from the body and, a costly repair later, he doesn't let anyone use it anymore (except me =]).

I mostly play without the tremolo bar. But there are also times for certain songs, where I want to use it. I always take off the bar, before putting the guitar away, into it's case.

Hello Torndaoclaw,

Yep I always take the bar off,
and I just about always put
one on but I don't always use it.

Pop in deluxe is my favorite
I found one bar thats not pop in
but just kinda a push in with no detent
it works super.

Cheers.

I'm not sure what that bar is. Does it work with a screw-in, threaded block? Got a link or product name?

Hello Orvilleowner,

It works on the pop in deluxe
tremolo block.

It's just like the fender model
without the detent to click in,
so you just shove it and it has a
friction fit as it's a few thousandth
larger than the regular deluxe bar.

I bought it at a guitar show, summer last
sorry I have no link, If I come up
with a manufacturer I'll post.

Cheers.

Oh, I now understand what you're saying.

My 2005 American Series strat (I bought it new at a Guitar Center Labor Day Sale in 2005) somehow ended up having the trem block from a Deluxe. It must have been a factory mix up! The workers also put a spring into the hole and covered it with a sticker (obviously not knowing that it had a pop-in trem block)! When I first tried to screw in the trem bar that came with the guitar, I thought the block was defective, that the threads in the block were gone. I took it to my local Fender dealer who discovered the trem block was a pop-in variety. He swapped the trem bar for one from a Deluxe, with a detent, and I was in business with an "up-graded" American Series! Pretty funny, all that. So I could be interested in that push-in, detentless arm!

Sounds like a good idea to me. Why risk breaking it. That would be horrifying
