I like what you did there, Arjay.
The green lettering is a nice personal touch on that Strat.

Thanks, Matt. It's pretty close to the original-spec blue/green that Fender used back in the day, as this worn example of an actual '54 Strat demonstrates......

No way am I gonna try and paint them myself...I GAURANTEE I don't have that in me.
I'm also skeptical of the "Made In Japan" knobs, Because of the 'fit' for one, and the possible "brightness" that I see in the pic's, that will overwhelm the switch tip and pickup covers that have aged slightly.

The guitar I am speaking of is my '15 Candy Apple Red, that I have put an Aged White Pearloid pickgaurd on (that DOES have gold highlights) and kept the White knobs, switch tip, and pickup covers on that I want to age naturally.
But I can't help but look at her, and think of what the Black letters/numbers would look like with the Black in the middle of the three-ply pickgaurd (and the entire ensemble itself) .
It's probably just my "obsessive compulsive" brain....but it's what I deal with. LOL!

Told you the question was "petty", but you guys understand....and that's cool as hell as far as I'm concerned. I also told the wife (when I planned to pose this question) that if ANYONE could help me, it would be you guys. And I haven't been disappointed. Good stuff!

That will never happen, I guarantee it. In a hundred years, I doubt that the plastic will discolor at all. ABS is a pretty stable compound and the only way to alter its hue is by artificial assistance such as staining.

UV light will do it, but not quickly. But place some white knobs on a south facing window sill for a year, and you'll probably be able to see a difference.

+1

Staining with tea work well.

I have aged white plastic knobs on one of my Strats. With time, aged white came...white, like new white knobs

Is it a American made guitar ? I guess so, you need american made knobs, not japan made or metric.

It's a Mexican Strat.
I have aged plastic in the past by soaking them in coffee. I have found that not ALL plastic accepts that though. The plastic on a Fender (MIM, USA) will absorb and change, but for some reason I tried to age a friends knobs, switch tip, and pickup covers off a Jay Turser Strat copy (don't know the manufacturer or where they're made) a couple years ago...and soaked them for over a week with no change in tint what-so-ever. Fender knobs that I did once took less than 3 days.

I DO like the white on my Strat against the aged Perloid pickgaurd, so I don't think I'm gonna age them in coffee. I think I'm just gonna have to accept the gold letters/numbers for now, and hope that it fades quick enough...because I'm afraid if I went with new knobs, they will be brighter than the rest of the white parts.

Have you given any thought to using Fender's "parchment" accessory parts? They're a white but less "white" than standard Fender parts -- more like bone, actually.

Some of that discoloration may be "surface grunge". The best way to tell is to examine the underside of the knob and compare it to the exposed top side.

I'm not convinced as it wouldn't be that even.

The underside is unlikely to be as noticeable as it is UV discolouration and the underside doesn't get as exposed.

I agree that, assuming UV discolouration, if you polished away the surface you would remove the surface degraded plastic and that below would be less coloured the more you removed.

For $7 I would think it's worth the gamble.

I only bet on sure things. If the knobs are not specified as fitting US-sized pot shafts, I'd save that seven bucks for a lunch at McDonald's.
