Did anybody check out teh Who tribute???? Townsend was playing 2 different Strats. One was candy apple or chrome red & teh other was a shoreline or aztec gold Strat. There looked to be a control knob; diagonally behind the bottom corner of the tremolo. Was that just for show or was it serving a purpose?????

I saw that and was trying to get a better look at it so I could find out what it was.

Just a guess...but doesn't Peter play a Custum shop strat that has a seperate pick-up that controls a piezo-electric p/u that emulates an acoustic guitar??? I could be wrong here--but perhaps this is the 'pot' that controls output for that sweet alchemy.

Discuss discuss!

That would explain how he got that nice Acoustic sound...but I didn't notice the 4th knob...

I read an interview with Pete's guitar tech a couple months back in either guitarworld or guitar player magazine. I definitely rember them talking about the fourth knob. I didn't remeber initially but I do remember them talking about the acoustic pick up now that others have mentioned it.

I'll try and find that article for a definitive responce.

Yes, I would agree with that review. The age in Roger's singing is definitely showing, though. Pete was on fire. Ahhhh, but it was so sad without John...

THe Fender VG Strat comes standard with 4 knobs. The 4th one is for the Roland pickup.

Yeah I remember a tech discussion about Pete's guitars and there is an accoustic pickup of some sort on them

Sad without John???? Should be sad without Keith & John. Saw 'em twice, once in '74 again in '80 (without Keith). Keith was a monster on the drums as John was monster on bass. People were saying "I didn't know you could sing like that" to me after the show. Guess the Who brings out the best in me: I sang along with every song on that show.

"Since the late-1980s, Townshend has used the Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster, with Lace-Sensor pickups, both in the studio and on tour. Some of his Stratocaster guitars feature a Fishman PowerBridge piezo pick-up system to simulate acoustic guitar tones. This piezo system is controlled by an extra volume control behind the guitar's bridge."

Not the greatest resource, but still.
