I need to mention that, 5/6 years later this neck is still perfect and this " crack ? " ( or is it 'a mark on the wood' ?)
is still the same .

That's not a crack, that's a growth pattern. There could be a weakness in the wood nearby that caused the growth pattern, but if you can't see any, don't worry about it. It can happen for as little as a bug or bird damaging the bark, or a grain of sand caught by capillary action, and years later you have that growth pattern far into the wood.

My worry was the dark line on the top photo, near the heel. Dark lines that go parallel to the grain always worry me the most on hardwoods, as they can be deeper cracks beneath the surface, or a crack under development.

BUT I apologize anyway for this " half of lies"
And I hope you will forgive me for wanting to protect this auction, and you will understand

Apology accepted for my part.
For the future: trying to "protect" any internet sale is absolutely futile - which was proven here.

...thanks for your understanding

I'm new on this forum : but for sure, I know that we can be confident between "musicians" :)

So I'll avoid such behavior in the future :D

No anymore infos concerning this neck ?

== "We can read on the back of the head "JH041890" ??? and in the heel : "3.93" (date of building ?) Zaverella, the "Art Esparza" logo ( Art was at the Custom shop ) and the first Custom Shop logo ."

Usely the number in the back of the head, indicate the initial of the MASTER BUILDER ( right ? ) but I didn't succeed to identify a master builder with initial like "JH" ???

Is this a "pre" master builder ? or ??? from which model could it come ???

Any Help appreciate :)

They ran into a dead end on the Custom Shop section, too - with the same neck.

On pre-masterbuilts etc; and just as my impressions (= check the facts from elsewhere):
I think in the early CS days, the builders assigned to the CS were called Master Builders inside the Fender ranking, so every CS instrument was built by a Master Builder.

The "Master Built" as we understand it today came later, when the CS crew got larger and Fender wanted to further diversify the selection for customers with unlimited funds - plus there's the artistic side on many of these instruments.

Thanks for your infos

And it's unbelievable to find this neck still in USA in Jul 13, 2007 ... some time before I bought it !!!

When I got it, it was on a "partcasters" : a complete Eric Johnson body and electronic AND this neck !!!

I will try to find the bill :D

Here is the pic :

but now It has moved to a "kind of Mary Kaye" model !

so this neck will probably stay a ... mistery neck
