Hello,
I have an Eric Johnson signature guitar and I have need to replace my nut.
I looked up online and got confused. which nut should I get for the EJ model?(as I noticed it has a slight curve and a flat nut do not fit perfectly).
Thanks,
Crimson Redstone.

PS. if possible I would like to buy the guitars 'original nut' but I couldn't find it and customer support mail do not work.

As I recollect, the EJ Strats (there are two models) both feature a 12-inch fretboard radius so the nut will be pretty flat on the bottom side. Fender typically does not sell such parts individually so any quality nut from an aftermarket source should work fine. You might try Stewart-MacDonald. They offer a variety of nut blanks in bone, plastic, and Corian.

Fender "bone" (i.e. melamine) nuts usually have a m or bridge shape on the bottom, so it can fit both flat and curved nut slots. For a curved nut slot, you would chisel (or sand) off the middle pillar and inner parts of the outer pillars until it fits. Take your time.

The top must be shaped anyhow; no matter what nut you pick, there are small adjustments that have to be made.

The 2008 Fender service diagram for the EJ lists part number 099-4920-000 which is the 'one size fits all' unslotted nut. This will require some sanding, shaping and slot cutting.

Thank you for your kind help,
I ordered all necessary files and some nut blanks and it might take a few tries but I'll work it out.

There are numerous how-to videos on youtube -- you might study them before starting.
