Looking through some old Frontline catalogs, I saw some Strat models that I never saw/didn't remember/or were rare.

Have you ever owned or played them? The first is this MIA model:

I forgot to say: it's from the Fall 1997, Vol. 23, issue.

There is a set neck strat in a shop Marlboro Ma. I think it's has a standard pick-up arrangement though. I looks nice. Haven't the balls to ask to play it though. From what I hear the owner won't part with it. It look
s the same as the add copy other than the pick-ups I think I could be wrong. Peace. J.J.B.

the nearest i had to that was a all singlecoil jackson sl1. I had to get rid of it. set neck and neck through guitars dont seem to have any tension in em, I owned several les pauls trying to get to like em before that. I really do prefer bolt on its like playing a cricket bat. The neck shape is far better the only real sacrifice is the heel.

If my memory serves me, the set neck was the first time Fender contoured the heel to improve access to the upper frets. Now you see it on the American Deluxe

I always liked the looks of the Raitt model: the blue finish, the pickguard, the big headstock, but I never got close to picking one up. The one weird thing I noticed, not too long ago, was that, while it has the large so-called CBS-headstock, it has the pre-CBS, spaghetti logo!

I've never seen that combination on any other (stock) guitar.

Where are they now?

Hey ZZDOC, My 1990 Fender HM Strat has a 24 fret neck and a sculpted heel and body. It is a nice feature, for sure.

I always thought it was odd that the Bonnie Raitt model didn't look anything like her #1 guitar.

Does anyone have one?

I remember the Bonnnie Rait Guitar as having a more delicate neck and I believe Fender had young women in mind as the target market. You are correct that there was no attempt to create a duplicate of her perfomance instrument....perhaps because she did not want that.

Ya it also had the Texas special pups and you could only get it in two different sunburst finishes. The only thing Bonnie Raitt looking was the name on the peghead. Her strat I seen her play looked more like a worn out natuural brown finish

Ditto - That well worn burst one sounds great too!

[quote="orvilleowner"]I always liked the looks of the Raitt model:

FYI:

For those of you who might not know much about Bonnie Raitt's roots,
suggest you check out her bio on her website and learn where this Harvard brat gets her genes from.

Many younger members likely have not heard of her dad nor had the experience of his voice. Bonnie has made her bones in a musical genre diametrically opposite of that in which her dad, John, became a cornerstone.

Here's the next one from the Fall '97 catalog. Dig those pickups and reverse headstock!

It's was a limited edition, so there probably aren't too many floating around (I don't eBay, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how many have passed through there in the last decade).

Where are they now?
