Cost doesn't seem to be an issue and and I don't buy the idea that they won't do it because they want to maintain some design integrity.

Then why aren't they doing it?

I proffer that Fender isn't going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to tool up and produce what will likely turn out to be another money-losing lemon just to accommodate a handful of malcontents.

Not much they haven't done in the Custom Shop - here's a nice pair of Thinline Strats (weight not specified, but PM'ing A.LaFrance might help):
guitarmotel 1991 blonde
guitarmotel 1999 burnt tangerine

But to the OP:
The "I'd gladly pay $100 extra" and "Cost doesn't seem to be an issue" statements show so much misunderstanding of Strats and their background; company policies; and economy in general that I don't wonder Arjay's irony...
There really are Stratocasters which meet the weight limit you set; no chambering needed.
So, instead of whining on the forum what FMIC should do for peanuts, just to satisfy your personal wishes (and I'm inclined to shorten the previous sentence to just "trolling"), get off your ash and search for that dream instrument.

That sounds like a REALLY expensive tonewood experiment. I envision heated debates about the merits of alder pulp cardboard versus ash pulp cardboard.

Here's the vid....

Sorry about offending the board. I really didn't think this would be a contentious thought. I have heard guys wish that Fender would make a wider variety guitars with fatter necks or bring back some more colors and I never saw the response "suck it up and go find one." I guess the short answer is that I am the only guy whose age and back prefer a lighter guitar and don't particularly want to put in the effort needed to find one.

That's why God invented the ES335.

Aw, c'mon - now you're just taking the martyr position.
I answered almost totallypoliticallycorrectly (*) to you on page1 - was just trying to help.
But if you still "don't particularly want to put in the effort" of e.g. hoisting a wanted ad on ebay & such, this really is just whining.

(*) There was a hint of irony, regarding your estimate on what you'd like to pay. And I do use that same irony on others who want Custom Shop level modifications for Squier level prices. I don't use it maliciously, but in a 'wake up an smell the roses' kinda way.
I'm not your enemy. Piece, love, understanding.

You can usually find one of the aluminum chambered strats for sale @ Reverb!!!
I don't know for sure the weight difference from a traditional strat body, but would assume at least a pound difference.

OK, guess the light ones are still 7.5 lbs and damn the money they get for these.
