\"FSR\" stands for Fender Special Run. These products are specially commissioned by individual dealers and built to their specifications. As they aren\'t regular production models, FSR instruments and amps aren\'t generally available to every dealer, and Fender seldom provide specs or listings for them on its website. Your local dealer, however, should be able to provide detailed specs for any FSR products they offer.

I did a little additional googling based on the info...
Many FSR's are only available for a year, but it seems this FSR has been available at least from 2006 and to 2008 - to be sure of the exact date, one needs to check the serial or date stamps, but 2007 is just fine.
The 2010 AmDlx series revision would be the absolute deadline.

And like Fender, I'll revise my previous a bit. The pearloid pickguard (4ply) & trem cover are original, which diminishes the risk of non-original electronics. Those plastics and the color are probably the "FSR" in this, so the electronics should be the same as in 'normal' AmDeluxes of that period - pickups would be SCN's.

My understanding is FSRs are non catalogue guitars, run as a batch and often commissioned by a Fender resller. As such that particular run/specification will only be available through that reseller. (Well isn't that exactly what was said above - Duh!)

My Curly Whirly is part of an FSR commissioned by Thomman for their Anniversary. What became apparent, when I did Serial Number enquiry, is Fenders records on FSRs can be a bit sketchy. Cury Whirly came back as HSH where as the natural finish swirls were all SSS.

I don't know what the minimum quantity is for an FSR but, assuming you like the specification, they are potentially very good guitars for the money having recived a little more attention to detail being outside of the normal run.

In respect of the guitar as the subject of this thread, $1000 perhaps isn't an unreasonable price. It is the top end of reasonable though. If you consider its original price was pretty high end at the time. As an FSR there is no guarantee it would have come with a case.

So, based on the apparent provenance and condition, I personally wouldn't feel too hard done by in paying the asking price if you like the specification of the guitar.

There are a great many cheaper guitars out there but this seems legitimate enough and (as a top price guitar originally) is perhaps worth spending the extra on.

And here, with specs list: May 2016 for sale ad 2008 FSR AmDlx

Says "with original hardshell case", but that's not mentioned in the specs. I'd guess an AmDlxFSR would have come with a case; at least the non-FSR's did.
