I came across a 57 Strat which had a Dimarzio on the bridge. This guy at the store was trying to sell it to me claiming that it came from the factory with a Dimarzio.Do 57s come with Dimarzio hot rails type pup at the bridge? Some of the guitars this guy has in the store looks old & used but he says they are brand new! I smelt something fishy.Well, is there anyway we can tell the authenticity or atleast the year of manufacture of a guitar by its serial number?

The 57 Hot Rod comes with a DiMarzio Tone Zone single coil size humbucker stock.

Tone Zone S™ D189 looks like this:

Maybe some of the old looking guitars u saw were new "Relics"
(New instruments artificially aged & worn to look old)

Stratocater had a limited run of American Hot rodded strats with a white tone zone in the bridge. If it were a real 57 expect to pay between $12,000 and $20,000 dollars for it, depending on condition

This is a 57 reissue & came with a white dimarzio bridge pup.
Does the Dimarzio retain the original fender tone or does it mess up.If it's a Dimarzio humbucker do we have the option of coil splitting given?

no coil split as standard and possition 5 isn't a regular strat tone, 4 is very close to a regular 4 though. Tone controls for all pickups. The humbucker in the bridge is arguably a better sound and i used a dimazio fs2 in that possition on my other strat for years. As soon as i stopped gigging though i had to have regular strat bridge tone and swapped back to the stock singlecoil. When i saw the 57hr i bought it on the strength of the bridge bucker and its perfect balance to the middle singlecoil, which is no easy feat. I have to have both options and coiltaps dont really sound authentic enough.

I believe 1957 Strats were going for about 3 times that recently.

I know of a '57 strat in good condition that recently sold for $12,000 in Boulder Colarado. I gues it depends on the condition and who's got it and what the want for it. but with the price of everything getting rediculous these days you can actually expect to see a more purchase friendly used guitar market in the not to distant future!

The 57 Vintage Hot Rod from Fender has a cream DiMarzio pickup which is the Tone Zone.....and from what i know it doesnt have a coil splitting option and it sounds really good.
When switch to the bridge DiMarzio Tone Zone it has the "open" wah (in OD or Dist) kinda thing while retaining the true Fender tone....

thats not a innaccurate description it is very smooth like a half cocked wah but not as nasal, when its driven.
