the body for my strat that i have been making just came today :D ! i have put it all together now except for the nut which still hasn't arrived but maybe later today or tommorow. i have been really excited about it and i figured i would make a forum for people who have built their own strat.

you cant have a strat that is counterfit in the forum though cause fender would probably shut it down though. i think it would be fine to have guitars diseigned after strats or strats actually made from real fender parts. mine is all fender parts except the nut which will be a floyd rose locking nut.

ill put up some of my earlier pics now and once i take some of the guitar now ill post them too.

here is my paint scheme, i haven't painted the guitar yet though, i need paint first. so it's just white right now.
Image

here is all the part except the body from earlir this month.

this is what it looks like now but without a nut ( this isn't my guitar just a pic from google).

Thanks for the update. I hope all the parts fit together for you.

There have been plenty of pictures of "strats" that had no Fender parts, but you may be right about what would happen if someone fakes a Fender using "replica" decals.

Nice strat....i'm waiting for my custom body to be finish by OGF.Its an Ash body weighing 3lbs 9oz with Surf Green finish and having it route for a 57 body....the body is from Musikraft.
I was not able to scout for an Original Ash body from Fender w/Surf Green finish so i had to have it custom made.I'm not sure as to whether its one piece or 2 piece body though.
The other parts are all ready..the neck is an original fender 22 fret maple with a large headstock and has a Schaller machine heads w/tuning locks.Having a genuine Fender vintage trem and the Fender white pearloid pickguard is loaded with 2 SCN's for the neck & middle but the bridge is a DiMarzio Tone Zone....i have a S-1 switching installed too....

Will post a picture of it once it ready. But i got a picture of the body from OGF today...here it is.

Nice color, belphedeus. It can be hard to count the pieces once it's painted a solid color. Sometimes, when held just right in the light, you can see the seams, but if it's been well made and painted, that won't work. If there's a seam in the middle, maybe you can see it in the unfinished neck pocket.

something looks strange with that neck seems like it misses a lot of wood where the nut is suposed to be!

Isn't that the seam we can see in the neck pocket in the photo? It would be slightly surprising to use up a one piece body under a solid finish. Surf Green's always been one of the nicest, wouldn't you say?

Anyway. Just look what Nikininja has done to us:

Now we're all going to be quoting the exact weight of our guitars when we list their features. I have an American Series that is coming out near to 8 lbs/ 4 kg on my not very accurate bathroom scales (hmm, heavier than I thought).

Are you going to admit to the weight of your refin body after you've put that new finish on, Niki? We're waiting for some pretty impressive numbers...

its going to have a floyd rose locking nut because the neck came cut like that. but i have been told that wiithout fine tuners on the bridge that its a $@!&#* idea and that i need to ditch the locks and put atring bar behind it so it's like a normal nut, or have it profesionally repaired so it will fit a normal nut again :[

i'll probably have it paint or at least started painting in it in a couple of weeks. i will of course post pics documenting the process :]

Okay, I think I understand: when you lock down the strings at the nut, that knocks out the tuning --- and you need the fine tuners to fix it.

Can you use the locking nut without locking the strings tightly?

How much would a repair cost?

Take it to a good luthier for his opinion.

yes you are correct. the stings will go slightly out of tune from stretching out and changes in temperture. fine tuners fix that problem but with out them your kinda screwed. you can youse the nut without locking it though yoou just need a string bar behind it so that the string are the right tension.
