Bought this strat used actually its on layaway. It has the tremelo arm with it, it threads in ok but theres a small gap between the hole in the plate and the arm. I have a 97 mim strat has same arm same threads but there is no gap. I checked with 2 fender dealers one only had an aftermarket fender arm it was same as mine. The other dealer had an arm he took out of a sealed package that went with a mim strat he had in store it was same as mine. anyone have a 2014 or newer mim strat that can tell me if theirs is like that.

Picture may help ,

If your arm fit well when screw on the bridge , there is no problem with the arm.

Show us the small gab you are talking about

I've just had a look at 3 Strats here, and not 1 of them has a snug fit with the bridge plate.
The arm fits in the block, through the bridge plate, and all of the guitars I looked at work just fine.

What's your problem?

Just the usual Fender QC, isn't it? Sometimes a big gap, sometimes no gap, usually something in between. I bought my white 2006 AmStd new from a dealer, and when I got it home I couldn't screw the trem arm in because the hole in the baseplate didn't QUITE line up with the threaded hole. I had to take it to bits and drill the (baseplate) hole out a fraction. Clearly no-one at Fender had ever tried to screw the arm in, or just ignored the problem.

I've often thought Fender could sell me a bag of Strat bits for a few quid less and I could assemble it myself with some attention to detail!

I wouldn't worry about the gap; it'll make no difference to how the trem works.

Cheers - Peter.

That's what I read in the first post.

The issue is that the OP is looking for a problem where there is none.
Anyone would think that we're talking about high precision engineering.
We're not, it's engineering to tolerances that are not particularly exacting, and it has always been that way.
The engineering is accurate enough for the job in hand.

thanks guys I have 2 other strats one is a 97 mim and the other is a korean its a early 2004 blonde birds eye maple neck with actual seymour duncans from factory. Both there bars fit perfectly. I have several other guitars with tremolos not fender they dont have gaps either. The guitar is on layway in a pawn shop so I cant take a picture but Id bet a matchbook cover or little thicker would fit around the arm. I found a picture on the web let me figure hou to post it

Right click on the picture, left click on "Copy Image Location".
Click on post reply on this forum, look above the box where you type your post, and there's a box with IMG in it - click that, and appears, and the cursor is sat between the brackets.
Press Ctrl & V together and the link for the image will appear between the two sets of brackets.

As an example I have copied this image location and posted it

If you press on the "Quote" button you can see where the brackets and the image link fit together.

Ironically enough, the fit on the image I posted it doesn't look to be too bad at all, although that in itself is of no consequence with respect to the working of the tremolo.

FYI
The word you want is upload (to Photobucket) not download.
When you send a file that's upload.
When you recieve a file that's download.
It's a common mistake.
Maybe more common when your first language is not English.
Imagine your computer is the earth.
Imagine the Internet is outer space.
When you send a file it goes up to the sky to go into outer space.
When you recieve a file it comes down from the sky.

Send = up
Recieve = down
