I recently purchased a used 2000 American Deluze Fat Strat and was provided the original Guitar Center receipt when I purchased it. The GC receipt identified the guitar as an year 2000 American Deluxe Fat Strat and lists the serioal number that matches the guitar. I have 2 questions:

1. The Serial number starts with "Z0" instead of "DZ0"- I read that American Deluze Fat Strats from 2000 start with "DZ0". Any insight on this?

2. There is NO "Made in USA" decal on the back of the headstock which I think is odd. Did Fender sometimes not put a "made in USA" decal on this year / model? All the other decals are there and look original?

Any advice or comments would be hepful!

Thanks,

Jim

The s/n is correct for that year.
SERIAL NUMBERS PRODUCTION DATES
N9 + 5 or 6 digits
Z0 + 5 or 6 digits
DZ0 + 5 or 6 digits (Am. Deluxe)
V + 5 or 6 digits (American Vintage Series except '52 Telecaster) 2000

Z0 + 5 or 6 digits
Z1 + 5 or 6 digits
DZ1 + 5 or 6 digits (Am. Deluxe)
V + 5 or 6 digits (American Vintage Series except '52 Telecaster) 2001

I am not sure about the made in usa decal.

I have a American Deluxe, and it does not have a made in usa sticker on it either, I think the best way overall way to tell is the Sn# and like Chirs63 said the SN# matches for that year.

Chris63 and JAM76, thanks for your replys. I believe that the guitar is what it was advertised but wanted to bounce it off some other folks. with experience in this area. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on the missing Made in USA decal questions.

Thanks for the bump, I'd still like to get some feedback on this! I would sleep better if knew that more that a few of us have American Deluxe Fat Strats without the Made in USA decal.

I was hoping to get more than 2 responses to my question (thank you to those who did repond). Can anyone recommend another forum that may have a better response rate for as this topic is still important to me.

Respectfully yours,

Jim

We had another player on the JD Bluesville forum- don't be suprised about not having the US decal on the neck. When this other guy talked to a Fender rep, the rep informed him that there have been whole batches of Deluxe Strats which didn't have the made in the US sticker....
