Hi. I'm new to the guitar. Playing 6 months. Just picked up this guitar but I don't think it is a real fender. Can you help? Payed over $1400 for it....

You already bought the guitar ... even though you think it's a fake.
You said you "payed", which I assume you meant "paid" (past tense) $1,400.
Clearly, it didn't matter then.
Why does it matter now?
What are we supposed to do for you?
Give you peace of mind?
If peace of mind was what you wanted you'd have been posing this question before you laid out 14 bones.
Play it.
Love it.
What's done is done.

BTW, nothing jumps out at me and shouts fake.
Not that it matters.
You already bought it.

Is this any better?
What makes you think it's a fake?

Looks like a 70s vintage reissue.
I had V00015 sunburst with ash pass thru my hands which was a nice guitar.
That price is about right for that type of guitar new. :D

Everything seems to be in order.

She looks good to me. For a new player that is one sweet guitar you have. Hope you enjoy her for a long time.

There's something fishy here.
Not the guitar. The OP.
Pics were taken in the music store.
Buddy's holding a brand new guitar, prolly with tags still attached, almost certainly before the actual purchase.
Great chance buddy got a case full of candy to go with it, too.
Still, it could be a fake, though ......

Dude, if you wanna show off your new guitar, just do it.
Stop the idiotic pretence.
Don't lie about it.

This thread has the same spirit behind it as a troll.
Plant the bait and sit back and watch the show.

The neck plate looks like it has a RI serial number, but there is no such thing as a "70s RI", American or otherwise. I'm not sure that the "American Vintage 70s" Strat had a serial number on the neck plate. :?

No, actually you're wrong. If you check catalog the model was called the "American Vintage '70s Stratocaster Reissue" - that is the name it carries on page #13 of the 2012 Fender Illustrated Price List (or page 15 of the online version - Fender didn't number the cover pages on the hard copies). So it was an AVRI '70s Strat, and it did have the serial number on the neck plate.

Here's a link to the 2012 Illustrated Price list:

https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... Price-List

That being said I wonder if this one was an FSR of some kind - the "regular" AVRI '70s would have had white plastic parts early-70s style and this one has the late-70s style black plastic parts. The parts could have been swapped out, but I don't think that the replacement Fender pickguards have the flag decal on them (over the film) like the AVRIs did from the factory.

Thanks for the replies ("rock star" comments notwithstanding- dude you have issues)....

Too many questions of authenticity. Sent Fender pictures and have not gotten an answer yet. I took the guitar back for a full refund. Small shop, known for repair skills... all three people in the shop (owner, salesman, repair dude) were way to over excited at how great my purchase was! Something just didn't feel right...

I'll play my Laguna/guitar center guitar until I have enough experience and enough knowledgeable people with me before I get another one.

Thanks again.

You sent a question after you bought a guitar and under two new topics, disappeared from the forum, let others post your pics, got half a dozen answers confirming it's a real Fender, took it back anyways.
And you think Beamer has issues..?
