Just finished up my instrumental guitar CD. The main instruments used are USA Fender Stratocasters & USA Fender Telecasters. They are the american standard versions with upgraded pickups. Everything else is stock.

Check it out, www.soultostrings.com

Enjoy,

congratulations
iv only been playing for moreless 4-5 yrs. self taught, hungry, musically driven.
learned basic chords and progressions in a relative short time then, taught myself certain scales and when and where they can be used, mainly by ear.
so what im trying to say, i believe guitar is one of the hardest instruments to learn, and playing to other people makes me shake to my knees.
again congrats.

top class mate really enjoyed alot of the stuff, my only critisism is some tracks are effects laden and it tends to draw attention from some impecable playing maybe thats just me, i am quite minimalistic in my tastes, and my opinion doesnt count for anything anyway. Anyone listening can hear this work is composed from passion. i really enjoyed tidal wave, short n sweet, climbing faith and 13white noise in particular. Great stuff Any u.k dates planned?

Hi Nikkininja,
Thanks so much for your kind words, I really apprecaite it.

I know what you mean about the effects. Some of the material on here was recorded a while back. I have learnt over the years that just a basic delay is all that is needed, nothing else. I used a lot of reverb on tracks which gives it that washed out sound.

I know eric johnson uses a lot of effects and at times can sound a bit "processed." I am trying to stay away from effects and go more direct.
Glad you enjoyed, would love to tour out your way soon.

Do you have a myspace or anything? Add me, would love to keep in touch.

My red Fender USA strat has stock delta tones in the neck & middle.

The bridge is a Dimarzio HS-2 which is sooo smooth! I actually use the bridge on lots of leads on the CD which isn't necessarily a common thing. Glad you like man, thanks so much for your kind words.

I saw Gary Hoey in KC at Guitar World probably a decade ago. He was a on a Big Apple Strat and a Rock Pro halfstack. He can definitely throw down some solo work. For years i was use to solo guys on Ibanezs. Then I thought..."Wait Malmsteen and Eric Johnson both are on strats". I don't know why I have that bias in my brain.

Hey Napalm,
Yea I was the same way for a while, it is a bit different to solo on Strat style guitars. I think it is a bit more challenging than a "shredder" type axe because of the fretboard shape & radius.

Thats cool that you saw Hoey man, he's a guitar monster for sure. Love his stuff, has a great way of phrasing. I remember when he was using that exact rig too...around the time he put the "Money" CD out. Good stuff. Hope you enjoy my songs, keep in touch.
