Lately the screw holding the front strap button on my MIM Strat keeps coming loose, which is annoying seeing as we've only had the guitar since Christmas. What is the best thing to do about this, so I don't have to keep re-tightening it?

Take the strap button off. Put a drop of Elmer's wood glue in the hole. Put a couple of small lengths of round toothpick in the hole. Let it dry over night. Re-install the strap button.

your going to find that stuff happening all over the guitar. I usualy get it happening on the pickguard screws cos im always taking em off. The thing to do is get some matches or wooden cocktail sticks, thin the wood down with a craft knife insert the match/cocktail stick into the screw hole and mark with a felt pen how deep the stick goes into the hole and cut the stick 1/8" short. carefully smear some wood glue on the stick push it back into the hole being sure to clean any excess glue that appears. leave it to dry for a couple of hours, at this point you have a choice either redrill the hole with a small 1mm drill tip or as i do just screw the screw in carefully. It sounds crude but it works well.

I have used a dowel as said and glued it in then pre-drilled the put button back in. Also have filled hole with a mix of saw dust from shop an wood glue mix then after it gets tacky take a thin awl or nail and gently push into center of the filling to create a hole and remove and let dry. Put button back in.

Personally I have used the toothpick technique for years.
It has worked for me everytime.
Note also I never had to use any glue either.

The wood is constantly changing. Everytime I change strings, I torque all the screws on my strats.
