Hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction here. Have what I believe to be a grounding issue on my american standard strat for first time in 20+ years. About five months ago the TBX control started cutting out when tone turned down and the original output jack would crackle like anything, not to mention the five way switch had to be gingerly placed to bridge position without cut out of volume. TBX has been replaced correctly (Fender parts) & output jack replaced: After that it was golden again. Five way seemed good too. Now all of a sudden four months later there is a severe hum if not touching the jack and either knobs/strings/bridge at the same time. All internal solder connections have been inspected (solid) and nothing was soldered over temp. Soooo any ideas?

Thanks

1- You fix the guitar ( tbx and jack replaced ) and everything work fine for four months.
2- Now you have a ground issue.

Right !

Something wrong with solder or contact from wire for ground.
Unless you are very experimented you can't see if solder are good or not ; Reheat them all.

Thank you Stratele for making me go back to basics.

Turned out to be an original wire to the volume pot that was hanging on by a thread. When moved the hum would come & go. Trimmed and re-soldered, back to spec.

Thank you again
