BTW, THANK YOU! I wondered what the hell happened and why all those links were "ooops, we couldn't find that"

Had no clue! Was driving me nuts. I do usually look that sorta stuff up :)

But, here is a potential new issue:

Image

What it looks like it something broke off of the 2nd string part. Looks like they have it at my local GC so I'll pick one up.

Also, a shim was under the high end and always wondered why I couldn't get the low E/A to stop rattling

Live and learn. Old men like me are slow.

That's precisely why I download or copy pertinent information the second I find it.
You just never know when it's going to disappear.
I learned that lesson the hard way.
I was saving links to good info only to find when I needed them the links were dead ends.

So, did you add a shim to the low E end or remove the shim from the high E end?
I'm looking at your pic and I can't see what you're referring to as missing.

Sometimes I get excited and ahead of myself.

I shimmed the Low E and it's better. Might add another (since the kit has extras) later but it's good enough for now. Stays in tune better, even with fresh strings. I guess maybe the wear out over time.

In the pic, there is a little black/gray part that is missing on the 2nd saddle/groove (graphite? I have no idea) . Dunno if it made a difference, but was shocked my local GC had a replacement, so bought it thinking it certainly can't hurt.

It's funny how starting a thread like this somehow has jogged me into re-bonding with this guitar and noticing things I just simply didn't notice before.

OK, I see what you're talking about now.

Kinda like when you buy a new vehicle and suddenly you notice how many of them there are on the road that you never saw before.
Actually, IMO, anything that helps bond you to a guitar that you had lost interest in is a good thing, if you ask me.
I'm all about rediscovering old tones an kicking them back into gear and shaking that money maker.

Very hard to see the gray part missing, I did not see myself.

Thanks. Well at least you will have plenty of spare parts now
The metal fingers are easily bent and then it does not take much to lose the ball bearings. :D

I'm happy! :)

Now, if I could figure out why I have a "pingy" sound on my D string (which obviously is not the nut) I'd be in a kind of heaven that would rival the gods.

I remember one of the reasons now that I took these setup out (pups) and put in the EMG's.

Went about a week w/o playing it and picked it up to "chhhhiiiickkkk chiiiiikkckckkk" on all the pots.

My hope is that I can find some that are not prone to that because no amount of any of the recommended "cleaners" ever seems to work for me.

So after quite some time and thought, I decided that a bridge N3 and rewiring myself is the way to go (keep fingers crossed) and I'll need two pots (I'll get Fender ones, they have them locally) but I'm having a tough time deciding what color pickguard will look the best.

The color is Olympic White (a pearl white, of sorts) and the pups / knobs will be antique white. Rather than throw out what I'm thinking, maybe some thoughts w/o any pre-conceived ideas?

Obviously 11 hole and w/o the truss cutout, 3 SC and three knob (I ditched the two knob idea)

Well, looks like I wore out my welcome here,

I still can't decide. Have to say, I wish there was an antique white one so guess I'll go with mint green.
