Even IF it was a CNC machine out of spec, what about QC as the damn thing is assembled? Totally unacceptable.

Please see the comments on the other Professional Series thread. This gap is not a random mistake. Take a good look at the strats on Fender's website. Starting with the new series, nearly every guitar shows this gap. Some are worse than others, but it's pretty glaring on the Pro Series. The American Special is about the only series where there's no gap. Also the EC and some vintage OK (sort of). My 2014 has a small gap that is not noticeable unless you're looking for it. Some of these are so obvious, it looks like there must be a purpose. What's up with this? How hard is it to fix a factory wide 1/16" (1/8") gap?

To the OP. It looks like "it is what it is".

In addition, it's just as ugly with the pickguard routing for the humbuckers being square, while it's contoured for the single coil. Unless you have wood mounted pickups, there's no need for a big hole, and that Fender doesn't do it the same way for both pickup types seems just sloppy.
What's next? Square holes for the dot inlays?
