Can anyone tell me why my fender 2-point bridge doesn't cover my bridge cavity all the way on my 2013 American Standard Strat? I can see through the cavity between pick guard and tremolo hole where bridge plate should sit over. (see dropbox pic below). Thanks!

A bit more info, please. It's a HSS, - but is that original or after modding?
Did you buy it new or used, and if used, any mods done?

(Asking, since I haven't the time to check at the moment, but shouldn't an AmStd of 2013 have bent steel saddles..?)

Edit: Just read your previous post:

So, I recently installed an American Standard Strat tremolo bridge (purchased N.O.S. (New Old Stock) from eBay), into a 2013 American Standard Strat and after installation I noticed there is a hole or gap between the pickguard and tremolo arm hole where the bridge should cover over but seems that the bridge isn't big enough to fully cover the hole or maybe the hole was routed to fit a bigger bridge.

The bridge is a Deluxe bridge. How did the original fit?

Mods for a HSS or other, you don't need to work on bridge cavity

2013 American standard use 2 point/ pivots bridge / tremolo

True, but it also uses bent steel saddles and this one has cast saddles; from the angle of the shot I think they are satin finish but they could also be chrome plated and just not showing up well.

That being said I've seen photos of brand new American Professional Strats that have a gap like that on a couple dealer sites. But to tell you the truth I forgot to check for that on the American Pro I played last Saturday.

I've never switched a Deluxe 2point bridge to a Standard 2point Strat - or vice versa. Not an upgrade, IMHO, which ever way you go.

Using my (probably defective) common sense, the trem base plates should have similar dimensions , but a) always expect anomalies with Fender, and b) drop-in-replacements seldom exist.
Base plates are sold with different part numbers (#0026097000 for AmStd, #0036527000 for Deluxe), so go figure.

But I'm curious about the whole story behind this mystery... What was the starting point?

I believe the plates are the same between AS & AD.
Maybe Pro is different but it looks the same.
AS & AD differ in the saddles and the block/arm.
Bent, rough block and smooth block all fit the same plate.

Thanks for the great responses all! So I bought this AmSt strat on eBay without a bridge on it. I purchased the fender bridge separately (also from eBay) which in the description said it was a bridge from an American Standard stratocaster so I assumed this would drop right in. After putting strings on and tuning up, it actually pulled in a little bit but I can still see a gap there. And I'm pretty sure the AmStds do have bent saddles stock on them these days. I prefer the cast saddles personally, purely for aesthetics.

Well today I was in a store and played a 2016 new American Standard and a new "2017" American Professional and they both had that little gap like the the OPs guitar. I suppose that is the way Fender is routing these bodies these days.

Some CNC machines are out ouf spec and need a set up ?
I see no reason to make a bigger hole.

As is the case with several amps, a lack of quality control ?

I was thinking it was a conscious decision to make the rout this way since it's on every American Standard Strat I've seen lately plus the American Pro. I couldn't see the other American Pro this store had in stock or the American Elites they had in stock - they were all on the top row of the guitar wall.

Why make a bigger hole, no need for IMO.

A decision to do no set up on CNC machine ! A Fender négligence ?

Even IF it was a CNC machine out of spec, what about QC as the damn thing is assembled? Totally unacceptable.
