After researching and playing both (+ a lot of other strats) I come down to 2 strat options; The Deluxe Players Strat and the Highway One. I know they are a lot different but i do like both equally. I like the player's finish and vintage noiseless pickups, while I like the highway one's 22nd fret.
In Australia they cost about the same. What's your opinion?

Personally, neither =]

But anyway, the Highways maybe slightly higher quality, as they are American parts, but assembled in Mexico. I have also heard bad things 'bout the noiseless pups :\

You can always gloss up the Highway One's satin finish, if that's what you prefer. I did that and it wasn't very hard (just get some polishing compound and some old terry cloth towels).

I love the Big Headstock shape of the Highway One's too.

I say neither also.
I didn't like the either of the deluxe players strats that I played at stores.
I think it was the pickups, the feel, & the neck that I didnt like (12" radius).
Also I don't like gold hardware either.

The Highway one I played felt better in my hands.
So if I had to choose between those 2, I would say the Highway One.

If it were me... AND I wasn't able to get an amer standard...
Instead of deluxe players or a highway one,
I would be trying to decide between a Roadhouse & a Lone Star strat...
& in that case I would probably get the lonestar
cuz it has a HB in the bridge... but thats just me.

It has Texas specials & pearly gates+
That is one straight up sexy mexican strat.

I found a very nice '07 MIM Classic Player's '50s for $620 used ($800). I really like the feel these ones have and they're cheaper than the MIA (kind of an in-between, plus it's "Custom Shop Designed").

Well I don't know if there is more than one of each town, but Corona is south west of California, and Ensenada is north west of Mexico, roughtly 250 kilometers apart (150 miles).

Cheers.

Both seem like decent Strats from what I've seen and heard.

You have to remember that only you can tell which one you like the sound and playability of better. Good luck.

Well thats so true and its all subjective.I went to the Guitar Center Fri. and I played a bunch of different Strats. I played the Clapton and Mayer sig. I played the American Deluxe The American Standard And a Mexican Strat.Did not like the Mayer Neck Liked the Clapton neck but is it me or does that model seem cheap meaning the pickguard was popping up all over and it just didnt seen like solid guitar not for 2000 bucks any way.And the bottom line is that I couldnt wait to get home and play my HWY1. The american Standard was the nicest and most like mine Now with that said I played an AM STD at another GC that I didnt like at all. Both had z7 serial # which I belive to know as '07s.Maybe Im just used to my guitar which Im sure is part of it but I have yet to find a neck that feels as good as mine and I've heard that said about th HWY1s in general.Just my 2 cents
