Hello everybody, this is my first post here but I've been reading the forum as a guest for a while now, anyway, some guy is trading me his american standard strat for an ovation guitar that I rarely use, but I want to be sure that its not fake or anything.

Here are some pics:

I haven't seen the guitar in person yet, I can ask the seller for more pictures, maybe the neck pocket and the pickup cavity, the thing that I have more doubts is about the body color and finish, I didn't find any info of a natural color finish on 2011 models.. So, what do you guys think?

The "or anything" might be appropriate here. Edit: I'll clarify my comment above - the guitar looks to me legit as in "all Fender parts", but doesn't seem to fit any factory model I know of.
So, I agree with JS's post (below), would be nice to know Fender's answer.

There was the "Fender Special Run Limited Edition American Standard Stratocaster - Natural" (for Sweetwater only), but that one should come with a maple fretboard, locking tuners and a special LE neck plate.
And there was the "Fender Limited Edition American Standard Stratocaster Oiled Ash", but that also should be with maple fb and locking tuners, plus CS Fat50's pickups.
So I'm thinking, MAYBE someone switched the neck.

Anyway, a black pickguard but a white trem cover..?

I'd suggest emailing the serial number to consumerrelations@fender.com and see if they can help with the specs belonging to that serial.

You're welcome man. Don't know if it's all original or not, but it looks like a pretty sweet guitar though.

It will be interesting to hear what Fender have to say in respect of the Serial Number.

I agree that there would seem to be a degree of parts swapping going off but overall it looks a very nice piece of kit.

Well I sent an email to the people at fender and they said that they will do a research and get back to me in a couple of days, we'll see then.. I asked the owner about the body and said its the original one; the wood is ash, and that he switched the back plastic cover to a white one and was planning to do the same with the pick guard

Perhaps the guitar slipped through a black hole from some alternate universe......?

So no further clues really unless the scratch plate is removed.

My guess is the body was stripped and refinished as the timber match isn't as good as one might expect on a body intended for clear finish

I also notice it is a four part body (also generally for solid colours) which would further suggest a refinish.
