Hi all, I am just in the throws of purchasing a STUNNING 'made in Japan' Strat the likes of which I have never seen before, does anyone else on here own one like it or have any details on them? I cannot seem to find any information other than that given by the seller...
"Fender Japan sometimes produce some special editions for their domestic market. These are finished to a higher standard & feature different woods & finishes. This is one such guitar. Really popular in Japan & hard to get hold of, I was lucky to get this. It was a shop demo model which cannot be resold as new. It is, however, unmarked. The guitar is a '62 reissue with an Ash body & a Koa top. Koa is an exotic wood from Hawaii which is very highly figured & used in very high end furniture & occasionally, musical instruments. The guitar is absolutely stunning to look at and feels great & lovely to play too. Fender Japan have added gold hardwear & a high output "blade" pickup at the bridge."

Too many frets to be a '62 re-issue of any persuasion. As well, the 12th fret dot spacing is incorrect for a re-issue.

Thanks for the reply, well spotted! Though the 'extra' fret did help to convince me that it had to be mine, i'm too old in the tooth to start re-calibrating for a fret missing :-)

No doubt it's an unusual specimen and a very nice instrument. It's just not any permutation of a '62 re-issue that I'm aware of. I've seen many of those and personally own a CIJ Premium Vintage '65 re-issue. All of those guitars are true to vintage specs in terms of details and appointments. Yours (if you do buy it) will be a very special Strat indeed.
