I have an American Strat but was also looking for another guitar with a humbucker. How does the humbucker emulation sound on the VG strat?
Is it good enough to play stuff like Metallica and AC/DC on? How do you compare it to other humbucking guitars like the Les Paul?
Is it worth trading in my American stat for a VG strat?

Thanks

If I were you, I would play both on the same amp and decide for your self if the sound compares.

The VG is a well made guitar in the deluxe fashion for Fender. Its playability is fantastic. I for one look for comfort and feel, action, and then sound. With so many electro boxes, modeling boxes, one can make a guitar sound like anything.

However, all of that being said, I own both and enjoy both, but I pick up the VG more because it fits me so well and I play with the modeling functions in both the guitar and my many accessories.

I just set my VG to its Humbucker mode and then played my Epiphone LP. They do sound different. The Epiphone is warmer and ..... I want to use the word smooth. If I just had to go with a Humbucker sound, it would be the LP. I still do not find the LP as comfortable as the strat.

Sorry, probably did not help your decision making any easier.

Have u watched the vids and sample sounds here?
http://www.fender.com/vgstrat/home.html
Click "Media" on the top nav and then watch the first vid.
The thing sounds good to me... but I am a skeptic when it comes
to this type of 'sound processing' as i will call it.
